The Kinette Club of Cornwall was chartered on February 23rd, 1942. The Club's Executive consisted of four positions, the President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer.
The Club is a Member of The Association of Kin Clubs of Canada.
In the early days, the Cornwall Kinettes fundraising primarily consisted of the bake sales, the sale of greeting cards, the collection of brass from burned out light bulbs for recycling, the organization of a canteen at local dances, a flower booth, and bingos as well as spring and fall bazaars.
The first service projects to the community included preparing supper for local soldiers every two months and supplying cigarettes; candies; magazines; knitted sweaters and socks for local troops abroad. They club also assisted the Red Cross Blood Donor Clinics, Tag Days and purchased new smocks for the Blood Donor Clinics. Further support went to the Milk for Britain campaign and the Salvation Army in their Fund Drive.
While the administration of the club has changed slightly over the years partially due to an increase in membership, the primary purpose of coming to the aid of the community coupled with fun and fellowship remains.
Today, the Kinette Club of Cornwall's roster totals 30 members (including Life Members) with an Executive consisting of the above-mentioned positions as well as a Registrar, Bingo Director, Bulletin Editor, Membership/PR Director, Risk Manager and Past President.
Our fundraisers include hall bingos, the sale of Nevada tickets, miniature Poinsettia plants, BBQ’s, etc.
The Kinette Club of Cornwall has numerous ongoing service projects and supports various organizations such as:
